Mr. Stumpy
7/9/2009: Stumpy the Goose died today. He had been tragically injured by an animal . Stumpy will be sorely missed by his many friends.
Stumpy came to the lake in September of 2008. During his realatively short tenure at the lake Stumpy touched more lives and made more friends than most of us do in a lifetime. He never let his disability get in the way of living a full life.
Stumpy had a greeting for everyone who approached him. He patiently posed for pictures and let hundreds of children pet him.
Stumpy teased those closest to him. He would often "groom" his friends, pull their hair, or go through their bags. He loved to sneak up behind their chairs and "goose" them.
Stumpy loved riding around the lake in Charles' van. When Charles tried to order at drive-thrus, Stumpy always chimed in. Charles was Stumpy's best friend.
We will all miss Stumpy but we thank him for sharing his life with us.

Stumpy has been staying at the lake 24/7 recently. Just when we were celebrating his assimilation back into the gaggle, he was attacked by a dog or coyte. He suffered a broken wing and injuries to his body underneath the wing. Currently, Eastlake Veterinary is caring for him. Pray for Stumpy! He is a tough old bird and we are hoping he pulls through this!!!!
